Mr. Branyan “Coach” had an incredible impact on my life. As an educator he had a natural way of communicating that really resonated, and I will always value my memories of those years. We lived in the same neighborhood and when I would drive by his home I’d often stop to say “hi”. He always had something good to say and never seemed bothered by the intrusion. His smile stayed at the ready, yet his intensity was a force to be reckoned with. You knew that when you extended your hand it would be met with a firm handshake. I’ll miss Mr. Branyan, I send my heartfelt condolences to his wonderful family, and I wish that he eternally Rest in Peace.

Lance, please accept deepest condolences from Nicki and I. Harve was a very special, one in a million person. His “old school” approach to the basketball game and to life was special and will be missed significantly. Words can’t express the impact he had on my life. In closing, please let me know if there’s anything I can do as I’m now living at beach in Delaware but will shoot up there in seconds notice. Take care Lance.

May you rest in peace Mr Branyan. I remember the summer before 8th grade. Mr Branyan would run open gyms. Bob Angradi and I would meet up with other kids and run ball for a couple hours a day. I learned a lot about the game and how hard work allows you to handle many obstacles. He was a fun person to be around. God bless all his family and friends.

Mrs. Branyan, Lance, and Stacy, I am so sorry for your loss and am very sad to hear the news. Your dad took me under his wing when I was in seventh grade and had such a positive impact on me all through high school. I have thought of him often over the years and in fact, still have “The World is Mine” poem on my desk at work to this day. If you played basketball for him you know that he taught us a lot about basketball and a little bit about life. He will be greatly missed. Sending my condolences, prayers, and love.

Mr. B was one of a kind! He was a dedicated teacher, a motivator as a coach, and a positive influence in the community. As a fatherless, young black child growing up in S-burg in the 60’s, he gave me b-ball skills, direction, encouragement, and the self confidence that gave me the belief that I could overcome most obstacles in life. He always made time to converse whenever we’d cross paths, and always dropped an important life/success principle on me. Coach was the only person I’ve ever seen, who could dominate a b-ball game while wearing knee-hi Chuck Taylor Converse sneakers!! Prayerfully and tearfully, my deepest condolences go out to Stacy, Lance and Mrs. B. RIP, LOVE YOU COACH!!

Thinking back, Mr. Branyan genuinely was interested in all of us when teaching elementary or secondary school. He was a master at knowing everyone’s name which was impressive because you only had class 1-2 x a week. I really loved his stories. My favorite was when he and some high school friends encountered Wilt Chamberlain in a Philadelphia area restaurant and how he described what the Big Dipper was like with his mannerisms along with his voice. Another story was when he worked for a garbage company and what happened when he picked up a really rusted garbage can to throw its contents into the back of the garbage truck…

“COACH” was one of a kind! We first met when I was a student at Ramsey Elementary School. He quickly encouraged, motivated, equipped me with b-ball skills, and the self confidence to conquer many obstacles in life. I’ll be eternally grateful for his input in my early years which created self esteem, and the belief that I was in control of my own future. Those who knew him can also attest to the same treatment. He was tough but fair, and had a big heart. I’ll never forget him playing in b-ball games, controlling the inside, while rocking his knee-high Converse! My deepest condolences go out to Mrs. B, Stacy, Lance ( aka L-Boogie), family, and friends. RIP COACH, love you!

I lost a very special person in my life. When we were growing up Eddie was my hero and my protctor- my big brother. I have so many special memories of the times we shared. I will so miss our long conversations and his laughter. I know he is now in Heaven with our Parents and Grandparents—probably shooting hoops with Dad!!!💚

Coach. You always had a high standard you projected on the students and we were better off for it. Immediately started calling me “Matty “ in basketball practice. I remember your tips about foul shots. Practice, practice, practice. If good men are the ones you remember, you were a good man.

Mrs Branyan, Stacy and Lance-
I am so sad. What a loss. He was an amazing basketball coach. Basketball, life and fun. And his vocabulary lessons- my favorite
“copacetic”. He was tough, genuine, and could always laugh at us and with us. And sing on the basketball bus with us too. One of my favorite memories was when he called a time out because we were playing rotten, sat us down on the bench and took the water bottle and sprayed us all and said wake up. It took up all of us ,everything we had not to laugh. We sure laughed after the game. I have so many great Stroudsburg High basketball memories. Thank you Mr Branyan- you were a class act.

I will always be grateful for Mr. Branyan. As my PE teacher, he stayed after school several days my senior year to help me complete the physical assessment portions of military academy applications. That, in turn, changed the trajectory of my life. Our family is still serving 23 years later. He was always encouraging. “A person might not remember what you say or do, but they will remember how you made them feel.” He genuinely wanted the best for his students.
