James Anthony Derner (51), of Hudson, FL passed away peacefully on November 4, 2018. Beloved father to his son Tyler (18) and his daughter Aimee (16). He was a Sergeant and School Resource Officer with the Pasco County Sheriffs Office and a retired U.S. Navy Corpsman. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Florida Cancer Specialists and Research Institute, Wounded Warrior Project and HPH Hospice, 12107 Majestic Blvd, Hudson, FL 34667.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Jim's children, Tyler and Aimee.who he loved more than life. Its hard to say good-bye to a great friend. I know you have a special place in heaven. Thank you for being my friend.There isn't enough space here to say all the things I want to say to you. I find comfort knowing you are out of pain and are with our Lord. All the memories I have of our friendship and the time we shared will always keep a smile on my face. Thank you for serving our great country and giving so much of yourself to young children as SRO. I know goodbyes are not forever and are not the end; it simply means I'll miss you until we meet again. Love you and you will always be in my heart. Godspeed Jim.
