Janet M. Lowe, 81, of Trinity Florida, passed on Thursday, October 2, 2025 in peace and love with family by her side.
Born in Michigan, Janet became a lifelong Floridian, when as a child, her family relocated to Lakeland, then Tampa Bay. Janet had a love for music playing the clarinet in the Largo High School marching band and piano at church services. When in college, Janet met and married her life partner, Ken, together building a happy family life near close family and friends while enjoying the Florida outdoors lifestyle. Janet had a successful 35 year career in banking, working every department from teller to loans to trust services, and was named Employee of the Year with First National Bank of Clearwater. She was involved with the Pilot International organization, volunteered at Largo Medical Center Hospital, and was an active supporter of her children’s sports, band, and other activities.
Throughout her life, Janet loved to travel to new places and experience new adventures. Family weekends away and vacations took place in cars, tents, campers, and even the family converted van to explore North America from coast to coast. Mostly attracted to state and national parks, Janet seemed to favor the beauty of mountains. Taking trips to Yosemite, Glacier, Great Smoky Mountains, and Acadia National Parks became a passion for both day and overnight hikes. For the beauty and challenge, some of the trails Janet and Ken hiked included High Trails and Half Dome in Yosemite, Highline Trail in Glacier, sections of the Appalachian Trail, and Sergeant Mountain in Acadia. Milestone wedding anniversaries found them dog sledding in Alaska and island hopping in Hawaii. In retirement, Janet and Ken enjoyed cruising and venturing to countries in Europe with Iceland being a favorite.
When not traveling, Janet stayed active and in touch with friends and family, especially her grandson, Kevin. Whether cheering at soccer games, building Lego bricks, playing video games and Putt-Putt golf, or attending his high school graduation, Janet was happy and proud of Kevin.
Janet joins her parents, Floyd and Dorcas, and brother Jim in Heavenly peace. She is survived by her beloved and devoted husband of 63 years, Ken, daughter Sharon and her husband Don of North Carolina, son Craig and his wife Lori of Georgia, cherished grandson Kevin, and many extended family and close friends.
A memorial service will be held at Thomas B. Dobies Funeral Home, New Port Richey, Florida on Friday, October 24, 2025 at 11:00am. Donations may be made in Janet’s memory to the National Park Service at give.nationalparks.org

Lil and I were extremely saddened to hear of Jan’s passing. Jan and Ken were great and helpful neighbors for the entire 26 years we had the privilege of living next to them. We will miss Jan’s generous and kind nature and her ready smile. We know it will be difficult for Ken to be without his life partner, and we are ready to give whatever help we can to Ken. May Jan rest in eternal peace.

Sharon and I graduated high school together. Her family is my family. I called her parents my mom and dad. Janet treated me like one of her own. Mom will be truly missed. It hurts when we lose someone that we love, but comforted knowing we will see them again with Jesus Christ.

I am grateful to have had an Aunt who showed her love and always took an interest in me. She put the fun in family gatherings and worked thoughtfully to make others feel special. I remember one Christmas she gave one of us a gift that involved a scavenger hunt through the house. And then there was the “over the hill” party she gave my Dad on his 50th birthday, the same week I got married. Even with all our commotion taking place she wasn’t going to let the opportunity slip by to celebrate this milestone with my Dad. I’m happy that we also shared an interest in hiking, and I enjoyed chatting with her and Uncle Ken about trails especially the Appalachian mountain club hikes. Her happy home and attitude has always been and continues to be an inspiration for me. Much love to all, Jenny

Thank you so much for letting us know about Janet’s passing. We know y’all have gone through a lot and we are keeping your family in our prayers. (Judy) I told Kevin that Ken and Janet had been on my mind a lot in September and I have been praying a lot for her during that time.// We have many fond memories of the times we had spent together on vacations and different times throughout our lives that you have been in the mountains and came to visit. (Judy) I especially remember when Janet surprised me with an impromtu – at least on my end – vacation for a week to Lake Fontana. It was a special time that I’ll never forget and all the wonderful conversations we had! Janet has such a special place in my heart. I will miss her! My consolation is that we will see each other again one day!// We all will miss her. She was such a sweet and kind person with truly a heart of gold! We are praying for God’s grace and comfort to carry you during this time! Love and Prayers, Judy, Gaylyn and Kevin
