Joan A. Kadlubowski (Okey) passed away peacefully, in the presence of family on April 14th, 2024 in Holiday FL. Joan was born on November 8th, 1946 in Dubuque IA to Clyde and Vivian (Schwarzhoff) Okey.  She was raised in Dubuque and moved to become a long-time resident of Woodstock, IL where she attended and was a proud graduate of Marian Central Catholic High School.   She relied heavily on her faith and was a strong believer in God.

After high school, Joan studied business and worked in Chicago, Il as a skilled secretary.  She enjoyed travel, so she continued her career by becoming a flight attendant with United Airlines. She met and married Don and they lived in the McHenry county area until they relocated to northern Wisconsin.   She retired after a long and fulfilling career with United.  After she retired, she moved to the southern US to enjoy the warmth and sunshine and to be near her brother and sister-in-law.  She loved being near the ocean and Gulf of Mexico.

Joan always loved her pets, which included several dogs and birds along the way, but she especially loved her Yorkie Spencer. She also enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino, dining out and spending time with family and friends. In recent years, she enjoyed doing crafty design and hands-on updates to her home.  One of her favorite pass times was keeping up on current events and world news.  She was always willing to engage in a spirited debate around these topics.

She is survived by her children, Jeffrey [Kristin] Kadlubowski Sr. of WI; Denise Kadlubowski of IL; Donald [Teresa] Kadlubowski of ID; and Rhonda [Philip] Keenan of WI.  Her grandchildren, Christina [Nick] Rasmussen, Jeffrey [Zoe] Kadlubowski Jr., Cameron Kadlubowski, Brittany Kadlubowski, Donald Kadlubowski III, Shalyn [Greg] Keenan. Her great-grandchildren, Calleigh, Jacob, Abigail, Elizabeth, Clover and Henry.  Also, her sisters-in-law, bother-in-law, close friends and neighbors, Toby and Naomi Pacione as well as life-long friend Mari Hickey.  In addition, she leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in Death by her parents, her husband, Donald E. Kadlubowski Sr., her siblings, Lee [Jan] Okey, Jim [Bonnie] Okey, Mary [David] Borcavan, Linda Wirtz, and a grandson, Vincent Kadlubowski.

No formal service will be performed at this time, but a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.  She will be missed by many and will always remain in our memories.
