John Allen Jones, 79, lovingly known as Pete or JJ to his friends & family, passed away on March 21 2026.

John was born in Macon Georgia on August 30 1946 to Thomas LeRoy Jones & Enna Estell Jones (Mann). John was a proud Army veteran, having enlisted in September 1963 as part of the 519th Transportation Co. Eventually, he was stationed in Heidelberg Germany where he was in the Patton Barracks & Campbell Barracks until August 1966. He often spoke about how his enlisted years were some of the best years of his life. He met many friends while in the Army who were like brothers to him.

John was a lifelong mechanic, a skill he specialized in while in the Army. John liked to hunt, fish, play pool, chess, backgammon, board games, poker & loved watching sports. He also enjoyed reading, so much so, that he read an entire set of Encyclopedias that were in the house. He was also known to help anyone in need, offering his skills & knowledge. He was known to have a green thumb, always working in the yard to spruce it with flowers & trees.

John was an avid animal lover having many dog & cat companions over the years. He was always looking to help a stray out, making sure they were loved or fed.

John was preceded in death by his parents Thomas & Enna, sisters Laverne Rucker & Leona Bodie as well as his younger brother Randall Jones. John is survived by his two daughters Laure’ Jones & Jennifer Jones whom he had with his ex-wife Pamela Ferrante (now Canfield), his five grandchildren, Khayman Hence, Taylor Follett, Devin Case, Rhiannon Hence & Hailey Armour, who’s pictures he had all over his house. He is also survived by his sister Linda Hayes as well as many nieces & nephews.

Per John’s wishes, no public memorial is planned & a private ceremony will be disclosed at a later date/time.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Pasco County Animal Services, North Shore Animal League as well as your local Animal Controls, Animal Rescues & Animal Shelters, would be greatly appreciated.
