John David Martin has gone home to be with the Lord on May 25, 2026. He was born on April 2, 1950, in Albany, New York, and moved to Florida at a young age. He attended Gulf High School and graduated in the Class of 1969. He married his wife, Janet Martin, on June 30th, 1973, and loved her dearly.
John Martin was predeceased by his loving wife, Janet E. Martin, the two of whom are now undoubtedly reunited in peace. He also joined his children, Harold “Jim” Martin and Michelle Betz. He leaves behind his surviving children John Jr. and Melissa Blaker and many beloved grandkids.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 5, 2026, at Dobies Funeral Home in Hudson, Florida. There will be visitation from 2:00pm until 3:00pm, with the service starting directly after at 3:00pm. All those whose lives were impacted are invited to attend and share their memories of this remarkable man.
John loved fishing, scuba diving, and boating. He could not pass up a good yard sale or thrift store. He had a natural gift of being able to restore almost any piece of lawn equipment and could build just about anything. He was an avid collector of stuff as well.
John was a loving father, grandfather, and friend, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

My condolences to the family and friends. I couldn’t go to your funeral John because I was thinking about the last day you were here that Saturday when me and you were sitting and talking just like always. Always stopping by the house or blowing the horn I’m calling. Asking about yard sales or ask when we’re going to have another one. Me and Rob both miss you and we love you. You are one of the best men I ever met. And I know I will miss you very dearly at our next yard sale. You were here every time anyway I love you and we all miss you
