With so much sadness we announce the passing of John E. Miliotis who departed this world on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at the age of 80.
John was born Ioannis Emmanuel Miliotis in Pagondas, Samos, Greece on June 20, 1945. In 1970 at the age of 25, after finishing his education and the army, he came to Chicago to visit his brother Panteli. In 1971, he met Bessi (Vasilia) Vasiliou and moved to New Jersey where he worked as an electrical foreman for Rutgers University. In 1972, John & Bessi were married at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Piscataway, NJ and in 1973 welcomed their twin sons Nickolas and Emanouel who completed their family.
At the age of 52, John took early retirement and the couple moved to Florida to enjoy the sunshine and make their dreams of traveling the world a reality. Together, they experienced a beautiful 54 years of marriage.
John is survived by his loving wife, Bessi; his son Niko, (Cathy); his son Manoli (Tatum); six grandchildren: John, Alex, Max, Yianni, Evelyn and Zena; his sister Argyro, 92 years old; as well as all his nieces and nephews in Greece.
Visitation will be 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Tarpon Springs, FL with the memorial service following at 11:00 a.m.
