He proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard, carrying the values of honor, integrity, and service with him throughout his life.
John was blessed to share 64 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Rena McCombs. Together they built a home filled with love, strength, and lasting memories. He was the devoted father of Steven McCombs and Deborah McCombs, and he lovingly raised his cherished granddaughter, Stephanie, as his own. Through his guidance, patience, and unconditional love, Stephanie grew into the beautiful, responsible, and caring married woman she is today. During John’s final months in hospice, Stephanie faithfully stood by his side, caring for him with the same selfless love and devotion he had shown her throughout her life—a true testament to the bond they shared.
A skilled jeweler by trade, John possessed gifted hands and a remarkable ability to fix nearly anything. Whether repairing treasured pieces of jewelry or solving everyday problems, he took pride in his craftsmanship and found joy in helping others. His quiet strength, generous heart, and dependable nature earned the respect and admiration of everyone who knew him.
Above all, John will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, mentor, and friend. His wisdom, kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering devotion to his family created a legacy that will continue for generations.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Rena McCombs; his son, Steven McCombs; his daughter, Deborah McCombs; his beloved granddaughter, Stephanie, and her husband; along with many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Though pancreatic cancer claimed his earthly life, it could never diminish the love he gave or the countless lives he touched. He was deeply loved by his beautiful wife and family, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
