So sorry to hear of Jack’s passing. Jack and Peg were great neighbors of ours for many years in Heather Highlands, Murrysville, PA. Jack had a quick wit and always enjoyed neighborhood gatherings. We have missed Peg and Jack ever since they moved to Florida. Rest In Peace, Jack! Rick and Sue Pry

Josh and I miss dear Jack so much. He and Peg were among the first folks at the Church on the Bayou to make every person who came through the doors feel loved and welcomed. We miss his dry sense of humor, his warm smile, his strong hand shake, and his servant’s heart. We send our love and condolences to Peg and the family.

I, Edward Gianetta, am so proud to be Jack’s son. I have saved his cards and letters from over 50 years and nothing touches me more than when he called me “my boy” or “my son” in his letters to me. We shared a common history in that we both served our U.S. Army days in Korea. Dad had a tougher go of it seeing action as a rifleman in minus 25 to 40 degree weather. I live in California and we spoke every week, in fact it was the high point of my week. I apologize to my Mom and Jack’s friends for my absence. This was so unexpected and I’m not anywhere ready to say goodbye. I love you Dad, you did everything right

Jack, it has been an long time, but when you get to heaven please say hello to John for me. John now has one of his Honor Guard member’s up there with him. You too will have a lot to talk about. And for you Margaret if you would ever want to talk, I am the Widow to John F. Kennedy, Jr. Will soon be 3 years.John was 97 years young. It will not get better, Margaret it will be different. Just asked Bill Williams for my number he has it. If there is anything that I can do for you Margaret just asked for

Marcus Aurelius wrote: “Waste no time arguing about what a good man is. Be one.”

Jack Westlake was a good man.

He was good company.

He could tease you until your laughter would fill the room.

He was always ready — to lend a hand or be a sympathetic ear.

He could respect silence.

He loved coffee, driving anything with wheels, swimming anywhere, short sleeved shirts and slacks, Ian Fleming’s James Bond, the Steelers and good beer.

He cherished his family, his church, his friends.

He took care of my grandparents and his sister (my mother) with deep devotion.

He loved his wife Margaret (Peg) completely. She was his soul mate.

He loved his son Ed and his grandsons — and I like to think he even loved me (his nephew).

He was special soul, a wonderful human being and the kind of individual who left behind a spark inside each of us who knew him.

Today is his funeral. I will go to church with both a heavy heart and happy one.

Much love, Jack.

Your nephew Bruce

Aunt Peggy,
We were saddened to hear about the loss of your “best friend” Jack. The two of you won the lottery fifty years ago… and you knew it!
We hope with the help of family, friends, and your faith it will somehow ease the pain you are feeling at this time.
Love,
Frank and Susan Troiano
