Joseph Neal Hoback, age 72 of New Port Richey, FL, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018 while holding the hand of his beloved wife, Kathy. He was born in Wytheville, VA to the late L. Peyton Hoback and Annie E. Hoback. Joe attended George Wythe High School where he graduated in 1964. He enlisted in the USMC in 1966 and eventually saw combat in Vietnam. He received an honorable discharge in 1969 and he and Kathy moved to the Washington DC Metro area shortly afterward. He began work at the Washington Post Newspaper where he was a Purchasing Agent until 1973. He then went on to work for the US Army Military District of Washington as a Contract Specialist for over eight years. In 1982, Joe was named Assistant Director of Procurement for the Defense Mapping Agency and soon thereafter he moved to the United States Mint in 1984 where he ultimately became an Assistant Director in charge of Procurement & later Electronic Information and Technology Offices. He retired in 2004 and moved to New Port Richey, FL. He is survived by his wife Kathy, brothers Ronald R. Hoback of Riverside, CA and Gary W. Hoback of Roanoke, VA, sister Patty K. Jackson of Johnson City, TN and several nephews and nieces.
