Josephine (JoMarie) Vanasco, of New Port Richey, Florida, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her friends and family after a battle with her various health challenges on May 21, 2023. She was 83 years old.

JoMarie was the first born daughter to Ector and Nora Mongelluzzo in Glen Cove, New York. Born on January 14, 1940, JoMarie was a vivacious teenager with a beautiful smile and an appreciation for black and white milkshakes. She attended St. Patrick’s Catholic High School in Glen Cove graduating in 1958 and soon meeting her husband now of 64 years, Stephen Vanasco. Stephen and JoMarie began their married life in Huntington, New York where they became the loving parents of three children, Darlene, Douglas (deceased) and Stephen.  A homemaker and eventually small business owner, JoMarie enjoyed cooking and hosting, having coffee with “the girls,” watching the Islanders play hockey, spending time with her family and beloved dog Gizmo and nurturing her children as they pursued various activities.  In later years, JoMarie and her husband Steve moved to New Port Richey Florida, where she resided until her passing

JoMarie is survived by her husband, Stephen; her sister, Noreen Koenig; children, Darlene and Stephen; and grandchildren, Ben, Simone, Abby, Lily and Jonah; she was pre desaesd by younger brother Guy Mongelluzzo. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in JoMarie’s name (or her son Douglas) to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Following the visitation, all are invited to the home of JoMarie’s son, Stephen, in Land ‘o Lakes for dinner catered by Carabba’s of Wesley Chapel.

A brief Funeral Service will be held at Florida National Cemetery
on Thursday May 25, 2023 at 2pm.
