Koulla Mitchell was born in October 1940 on the sacred island of Patmos, Greece—a place forever associated with faith, reflection, and devotion. These virtues shaped her entire life. She fell asleep in the Lord on January 24, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering faith, selfless service, and quiet love.
Koulla was the beloved daughter of Nick and Irene Mitchell, and she carried their values of integrity, generosity, and devotion to God with her always. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, JoAnn Myers, whom she remembered always in prayer. Her life was rich in relationships and purpose, and she embraced her family, her Church, and her community as her own.
Her family later relocated to Tallahassee, Florida, where Koulla continued to build a life centered on faith, service, and civic responsibility.
She is survived by her loving siblings: Susie Duncan of Boca Raton, and her brothers Mike Mitchell and Jimmy Mitchell of Tallahassee, along with many extended family members, godchildren, and dear friends whose lives were deeply touched by her kindness and generosity.
Koulla’s life was firmly rooted in her deep and unwavering faith in Christ. A founding member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, she had been devoted to the parish since its inception in 1987. She never missed a Divine Liturgy or church service. Each Sunday, Koulla could be found faithfully standing at the pangari, welcoming parishioners with reverence and responsibility, quietly ensuring that the doors of the church—and the life of the parish—were always cared for.
She was a devoted member of the Philoptochos Society, as well as an active member of the Daughters of Penelope, Chapter 365. She also proudly served on the Executive Board of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, offering countless hours of service to strengthen faith, fellowship, and philanthropy within the Greek Orthodox community.
Beyond her parish life, Koulla was deeply committed to public service. She worked in Tallahassee within Florida state government, including service with Gerald A. “Jerry” Lewis and with state legislator Murray Dubbin, contributing diligently behind the scenes in trusted support roles marked by professionalism, discretion, and integrity. She later served with Pinellas County’s Business Development Division, always approaching her work with humility and a sincere desire to help others.
Koulla was also actively involved in Greek Independence Day celebrations and numerous church and community initiatives, always stepping forward wherever help was needed—never seeking recognition, only to serve.
Above all, Koulla will be remembered as a woman of quiet strength, steadfast faith, and tireless devotion. Her life was a living testimony to her love for Christ and His Church. She gave freely, served humbly, and believed wholeheartedly.
Her memory will be eternal.
May her memory be blessed.

We will always remember Koulla. In a word, Koulla was “CONCRNED”. She cared about her Community, her family, and her friends and wouldn’t let anything interfere with helping others. She will be missed by all. May Koulla’s Memory Be Eternal.
