She continues to influence their lives as well as her great-grandchildren by her legacy of love. She was actively involved in the education of her children as they always had the best science projects in their class! She loved to spend time with her children, care for them, and thoughtfully create festive, magical memories for them throughout their childhoods. She was also a vibrant grandma and spent much time playing and caring for them. Luz loved arts & crafts and scrapbooking, encapsulating special events in all her grandchildren’s first year of life. In her youthful years, she enjoyed swimming, roller-skating, and bike-riding. She also loved serving her family by cooking all kinds of different cuisines and especially Puerto Rican food. She made a fantastic Sancocho. Also, she had a passion for photography with her favorite subjects being her family, who she captured in artful candid portraits. Her love for art also included painting and drawing with oil pastels. Luz had a green thumb when it came to gardening. She created an Eden in the middle of Brooklyn, complete with white roses, pink roses, black velvet roses, and prize-winning tomatoes.

We will always carry her loving, joyful memory in our hearts.💗💗💗

To our dear family, Nelson Sr, Yolanda, Lulu, Nelson Jr, spouses and children,

Our hearts are with you. What a beautiful way to honor Lucy and her impact as a mom, wife and friend to many. We were blessed to call her family and we have so many fond memories of Lucy, her smile, her love and her cooking!

We are especially thankful for being able to visit her with my dad, Pepe. He loved her so much and now they are reunited in heaven.

May God surround you with his love, strength and comfort. While we know she is with the Lord, we also mourn her loss. May your hearts be filled with joy with all the fond memories of Lucy. Her legacy lives on through each of you.
