Margitta Savo, 73, of Hudson, FL, formerly of Brookfield, CT, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by numerous family members and friends, passed away peacefully on 10/5/19. Margitta immigrated to the US in 1950 from Dresden, East Germany, and was the daughter of the late Alexander and Gertrude Nagy. She was an educator of 42 years in Newtown, CT, and a very active member of Brookfield Congregational Church. Margitta was active in the church’s woman’s group and missionary work, an avid reader, and she enjoyed traveling, knitting, sewing, and spending time with family and friends. She always had a smile on her face despite the challenges which lie ahead. Margitta was the loving wife of 23.5 years to Larry Savo. Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Larry Savo, daughters Suzanne Parker of Spring Hill, FL, and Kimberly Parker-Zarillo and her husband Michael of Torrington, CT. In addition, she leaves behind her step sons Kyle Savo of Hamden, CT, and Brandon Savo of West Haven, CT. She will be cherished by her 7 grandchildren, Tyler Parker, Kayden Ehlert, Brandon, Zoee and Hunter Zarillo, and Adrian and Natalie Zarillo. She will be greatly missed by her sisters, Dorottya Kern, Kathleen Reilly, Angela Lee, as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends. Margitta will be sadly missed by her dog, Bogey. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held on 11/9/19 at 11 a.m at the Brookfield Congregational Church, 160 Whisconier Road, Brookfield, CT. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Margitta online to Hospice at Chaptershealth.org, Moffitt.org, StJude.org

Margitta is gone too soon. I remember her as vivacious. full of energy and an excellent teacher. Her legacy is her family and all the children she taught over the years. Rest in peace, my friend.
