Mary Costides was born March 17, 1931, on the island of Andros, Greece to Konstandinos and Filio Lavdas. She passed away peacefully at her home in Holiday, Florida on September 5, 2026. She was predeceased in death by her husband, Staff Sergeant Nondas “Nick” Costides (US Army Retired), her parents, her sister Presvytera Vasiliki Psaros, her brother Leonidas Lavdas, her sister Irini Skreki and her niece, Maria Kanakis. Mary is survived by her son, Nick Costides and daughter-in-law, Leslie Costides, and daughter, Athena Getschal, and son-in-law, Cooper Getschal. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Antigoni Lavdas, nephew, Dean Lavdas and wife, Ioanna Lavdas, nephew, Steve Lavdas, her brother Dimitrios Lavdas and sister-in-law, Thalia Lavdas, her sister, Helen Athanasoulis and brother-in-law, Nondas Athanasoulis, nephew, Bill Athanasoulis and wife, Sherry Athanasoulis, niece, Filio Athanasoulis, nephew, Ioannis Psaros and wife, Athena Psaros, niece, Filio Psaros, nephew, Kostandinos Psarros, her grandson, Nick Costides and wife, Darby Costides, grandson, Michael Costides and Wife, Michelle Costides, granddaughter, Brooke Cason and Husband, Clay Cason, granddaughter, Amber Slaughter, granddaughter, Katrina Costides-Hong and Husband, Jared Hong, and granddaughter, Dana Estabrook. Mary was also blessed with many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and godchildren.
Mary was a retired cosmetologist, homemaker and a devoted, loving, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. Mary was devoted to her Greek Orthodox faith and was the matriarch of the family instilling strong family values. She was a seamstress who made beautiful dresses. She was an amazing cook and baker and has passed down her recipes to the younger generation. Characterized by profound generosity, Mary consistently aided those in need without hesitation. Although we will miss her greatly, we know that she has received her Angel’s Wings and has gone on to join her family in heaven.
