Mary Eleanor (Freeman) Norton passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the age of 83 in Palm Harbor, Florida. Mary was a strong and independent woman whose life was centered around caring for others. As a devoted nurse, she spent many years at Morton Plant Mease Dunedin and Countryside Hospitals, where she touched countless lives with her compassion and quiet dedication.

Above all, Mary loved her family. She found joy in time spent with her children and grandchildren, and her love for them was constant and unwavering. She also held a special place in her heart for her dogs, who brought her comfort and companionship. She will be remembered for her strength, her gentle presence, and the steady love she gave so freely.

Mary is survived by her children: Steven Norton and his wife Luz Marina of Palm Harbor, Florida; Gregory Norton and his wife Christine of Austin, Texas; and Stacy Mounts and her husband Michael of Virginia Beach, Virginia. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Jonathan Norton, Emma Norton, Kaitlyn Mounts, Liam Mounts, Nathan Laws, Ethan Laws and their father Ryan Laws. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Laws.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to her at-home medical care team —Ariana, Lisa, Shay and Shrhonda—for their compassionate care and support in Mary’s final days.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date, with details to be determined. The family appreciates your patience and understanding during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Suncoast Hospice Foundation, Palm Harbor, Florida, in memory of Mary Norton.
