It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mary-Jane Morgan (nee Haaf). She departed this world peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. She was 90 years old.
Throughout her life, she demonstrated unwavering dedication to her family, friends, and community.
She is survived by her daughter Terry Ann Morgan (husband John Sayah), her son James Lawrence Morgan (wife Tonya) and her two grandchildren Molly and Mason Morgan, and her sister Odeen Rekoske. We will all forever hold her memory close. In times of joy and sorrow, she was a source of comfort and strength, offering wisdom and understanding whenever it was needed. Mary-Jane is preceded in death by her husband Thomas E. Morgan, and parents Lester and Ella Haaf.
After many years as a math teacher at the Oak Creek High School in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, Mary-Jane retired in 1992, and moved from her home town of South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Holiday, Florida. She joined the Ladies’ Golf League at the Tarpon Springs Golf Course and enjoyed many many days on the links with her friends.
Mary-Jane had a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and later attained a Master’s Degree in Education from Marquette University.
While still at college, Mary-Jane met her future husband on an anthropology field trip where she was smitten with a football player, Thomas E. Morgan. Not sure if it was Thomas’ rugged good looks or the six pack of beer he was carrying on the trip that attracted her. In 1956, they married. Breaking the usual expectations at the time, that she would become a stay-at-home mom, Mary-Jane continued her full-time teaching career while raising her family.
As a High School Math teacher, her students either loved or despised her because of the daily homework assignments and quizzes. During these years, Mary-Jane’s main fashion accessories were her huge tote back full of school papers and red pens. If you ever saw Mary-Jane after school hours, she would be grading huge piles of papers.
As an avid lifelong golfer who hustled little old ladies for nickels and dimes. She never said no to golf outings with her son Jim (or anyone else for that matter). In her retirement years, Mary-Jane and daughter Terry Ann traveled the world, taking cruises at least once a year.
For the last 5 years, Mary-Jane battled the vicious effects of Alzheimer’s. She passed away in peace in Clearwater, Florida on March 11, 2026, at the age of 90. If you which to honor Mary-Jane’s life, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association (ALZ.org), or to the Tarpon Springs Shepherd Center (TSCenter.org) would be greatly appreciated.

I met Mary Jane when I joined the Women’s Tarpon Springs Golf Association. She was an excellent golfer and the responsible leader of the League tournaments for years. I consider her a good friend. She had a great sense of humor which kept us all laughing at the
meetings. She was generous in her advice and encouraged everyone to be as good of a golfer as they could be. She loved to eat at our lunches and gathered what ever to-go boxes that were available. When she moved to assisted living, she still joined us for lunch. She is a true lady and is greatly missed.

Maryjane was my neighbor for 20 some years. We shared a lot of stories, fun and laughter. Lunches by the water, she showed me how to make beautiful things out of stain glass. Those of which I still have to remember her by. Just one hell of a women. I will never forget her

I met Mary Jane when I joined the Tarpon Springs Women’s Golf League in 2000. Played countless rounds of golf with her at TSGC. And it wasn’t easy winning a nickle or dime from her. Not only was she crafty doing many arts & craft items, she was a diehard Green Bay Packer fan; as am I, & she was a staunch Democrat. A true Wisconsinite!
My condolences to her family & people that knew her. 😪
