Mercedes James 92, of Tarpon Springs, Florida, died peacefully on May 9, 2021. Born in Guayaquil, Ecuador to Pedro Guillermo and Clara Lucinda Simmonds, she moved to the United States in the early 1950’s. As a master seamstress, she had a long and productive career in the fashion industry. She retired and moved from New Jersey to Florida, where she enjoyed the company of her husband Vincent, family and friends.

She is survived by her loving husband Vincent of 59 years, her son Kevin and daughter-in law Michele, and her son Harold and daughter-in-law Jeannine. She will be missed by her grandchildren Jacqueline, Caitlin, Emily, Lauren, Christian, Nicholas and Bella, as well as her great-grandchild Hudson.

She will be missed by her sisters Nella and Judy, and brother Oscar. She is predeceased by sisters Maria and Raquel, and brothers Miguel, Bolivar, Adolfo, Carlos, Eduardo, and Teodoro “Nisito”.

She will also be lovingly remembered by multiple nieces and nephews.
