Nancy J Forbes

July 18, 1939~July 29, 2022

Nancy J. Forbes – 83, left this world on Friday, July 29, 2022, to be reunited with Ron, her beloved husband of 63 years.

She is survived by their children, Melanie Holley, Melinda (Jay) Bentley, Ronald J. (Emelda) Forbes, and Laurie (Paul) McGill;

grandchildren, Connor (Andrea) Bentley, Zeno Forbes, Cassidy (Nicholas) Turco, Joseph McGill, Keanu Forbes, Marguerite McGill, Cailyn (Alex) Kerekes, Dalton Forbes, Michael McGill, Grace McGill, and Paul McGill; and great-grandchildren, Ellis, Genevieve, Lydia, Logan, Vivienne, Lyra, and Caleb.

Nancy was born in Lynn, Massachusetts on July 18, 1939, to William and Avis (Anderson) Thomas.  Moving to St. Petersburg, Florida as a child, she attended Mirror Lake Jr. High and St. Petersburg High School.  She married her high school sweetheart on December 20, 1956, and couldn’t wait to start their family.  Nancy had a steadfast love for her husband and children and implanted that love of family in her children’s hearts.

In 1963, Ron and Nancy moved from St. Petersburg to Pinellas Park, where Nancy entered the Data Processing field and began her career as a key-punch operator for the city of Pinellas Park.  Becoming proficient in this new technology, in 1968 she went to work for Pinellas County, as they converted all their paper records into digital records via key-punch cards.  From there, Nancy worked for Eckerd College and several mortgage companies, working her way into management.  By 1984, she began to build her small business “Word Concepts by Forbes”, to create microfilm records.  After that, Nancy worked at Raymond James & Associates until she decided to spend a couple of years providing daytime care for her first grandchild when he was born in November 1991.  Going back to Raymond James in 1994, she finally ended her long career to care for another grandchild in 1996.

Throughout her life in Pinellas Park, Nancy was involved in civic organizations, to assist with fundraisers and events.  She balanced a full-time job while raising four children, and supporting her husband as a public servant.  Nancy loved to make decorative crafts and was an avid seamstress, making clothes for her granddaughters.  She enjoyed gardening as well.  Nancy and Ron volunteered on committees and in many areas at their church.

In 2003, they left their beloved city and moved to New Port Richey to be closer to their children and grandchildren.  In 2019 Ron and Nancy moved to Ocala, Florida to live with their son.  It was there that she lost the love of her life in January 2020, and it was from there that she left to join him now.  Nancy will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but we know that she leaves behind a legacy of love.  And two soul mates, Ron and Nancy, are reunited in eternity.
