On June 12th, 2026, the world lost an amazing husband, father, son, and friend. Patrick Compton, 74, of Port Richey, Florida, passed away peacefully with his family by his side after a short but courageous battle with cancer. He was born on August 8th, 1951, in Montgomery, Alabama, to Thomas and Myrtle Compton.
Patrick will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, quick wit, and patient, gentle demeanor. He made a profound impact on the lives of others through his service in the Navy from 1971 to 1973, his work as a mental health counselor and family therapist for over 25 years, and his dedication as an exceptional guidance counselor at Chasco Middle School for 10 years.
Above all, Patrick’s greatest gift was his unwavering love for his family. Patrick and Gail met in 1986 and were married in 1988. They welcomed their son, Cole—the love of their lives—in 1998. Patrick’s family was always his highest priority. He loved taking family vacations, barbecuing his famous chicken for his loved ones, enthusiastically supporting Cole’s hobbies and passions, playing with his dog, Lucy, and so much more. As a husband, Patrick was endlessly kind and patient—a true best friend and loving partner.
In February, Patrick had the joy of celebrating his mother Myrtle’s 100th birthday. A devoted and thoughtful son, Patrick visited his mother every Friday to spend time together and play cards. Patrick was also blessed with a loving extended family and numerous friends who will remember him for his humorous puns, loyalty, and enduring love.
In addition to being a great outdoorsman, Patrick was an avid coin collector, flight simulator enthusiast, family history researcher, and skilled poker player, often winning against his buddies.
Patrick is survived by his wife Gail; his son Cole; his soon-to-be daughter-in-law Andrea; his mother Myrtle; his sister-in-law Arlene, and her husband Ed; his nephew Erik, and his wife Lisa; their children Bella, Monica and Collin; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father Thomas, and his brother Michael.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of life will be held in the near future. In lieu of flowers, please direct contributions to Gulfside Hospice, Dr. Jay Weil Center for Hospice Care. https://www.gulfside.org/dr-jay-weil-center-for-hospice-care

I just love this photo which brings back memories of the fun we had hiking South Mountain with Patrick (while you were still at work). He left this world a better place and showed such life and love to everyone around him. We will miss seeing him again. We are praying for you and Cole and everyone in the family, that you may feel his presence even as he is gone from your sight. All our love, Maureen & Rudy

Patrick will be missed. He was every bit the wonderful person his obituary describes. Gail, Cole and Andrea, may time bring you peace, laughter and smiles when you think of Patrick and his life with you, along with your profound sadness at his passing. We are so thankful that we got to know and enjoy the time we did have with Patrick. Sending love and hugs to you all.
