Williams, Paul M.
74, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at his home in Hudson, Florida.

Paul was born on March 6, 1946 in Oakridge, Tennessee. He graduated from Haverford Senior High School in 1965 and from Earlham College in 1972. He served in the United States Army and the Vietnam War. Paul had a long and successful career as a geologist and retired from Southwest Florida Water Management with dreams of becoming a professional golfer through his many rounds played with family and friends at Meadow Oaks Golf Club.

Paul met his loving wife, Maureen, on the racquetball courts of New Hampshire where they played doubles together. Paul always said “Maureen was the forehand to his backhand.” Paul loved to take pictures of flowers, bugs, rocks, wildlife, and his beloved springer spaniels, Daren, Tinkerbell, and Lily. Over the years, he won several photography awards for his nature photos. He enjoyed traveling the United States with Maureen in their RV. Their adventures included visiting Arches National Park, Bryce Canyon, Yellowstone, Joshua Tree, the Grand Canyon, and Maui. When Paul was not traveling or taking photos, you could find him on the golf course sinking birdies, eagles, and as legend has it at least “eleven” holes-in-one. One of Paul’s favorite past times was playing with his golf buddies at Meadow Oaks, in addition to teaching them the art of the game. Paul also had a passion for fostering and rescuing springer spaniels.

Paul is survived by his spouse Maureen Williams; his children Laura Anderson and her husband Averill Anderson, and Evan P. Williams; children by marriage Jennifer Bowie and her husband Gavin Bowie, and Melinda Barnes; grandson Alec Anderson; bother David Williams and his wife Doreen; sister Kathleen Skoff; nephews William Paul III and his wife Shannon, Tim Berkoff and his wife Christy; nieces Kristine Paul and her son Calvin Balzer, Rachel Spring and her husband Bryan; and his springer spaniels Daren and Lily Williams.

Because of COVID-19 there will be a celebration of life in Fall 2020. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at English Springer Rescue America: https://englishspringerrescueamerica3.wildapricot.org/Donate.

Our thoughts and hearts are with you, Maureen. I'm sorry to have missed playing a round of golf with Paul, though clearly it would not have gone well for me. I loved reading these wonderful memories of your travels, life together and your spaniels. Sending much love and big hugs.

I was saddened to hear that Paul passed away. He was my boss and my friend. Paul, Angel, and I had a lot of fun kidding around with each other. He will be missed.
