Phyllis Jean Wood, age 89, formerly of New Port Richey, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Suncoast Hospice Care Center in Pinellas Park, Florida, on September 19, 2022. She is survived by her five children Phyllis Walichnowski (John) of Seminole, Florida, Patricia Fenochietti of Largo, Florida, Paul Fenochietti (Maritza) of Seminole, Florida, Peter Fenochietti (Cheri) of Vilas, North Carolina, and Peggy Joseph (Greg) of Zanesville, Ohio, as well as nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 36 years, Col. Hector Wood, her parents Eli and Alice Avery, and her sister Thelma Jordan. Phyllis enjoyed raising her family in Fort Clayton, Panama while working as a secretary at Inter-American Geodetic Survey (IAGS) When she relocated to Virginia, she worked for several years as secretary to the Admiral of Naval Intelligence at the Pentagon, which was her most favorite job. She then retired to New Port Richey, Florida, to be closer to her family. She was a sassy and loving mom, grandma, and great grandma who enjoyed visiting her favorite restaurants and loved reading books by her favorite authors including James Patterson and Stuart Woods. Her spirit was loving, kind, and supportive to all and she will be missed by her family tremendously! “Mom (Grandma), may God hold you in His loving arms and keep you. Dobies Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for the family. Celebration of life will be held on November 4, 2022, at 11 am at 9944 Hudson Ave. Hudson, Florida.
