Raymond Gerard LaFerriere
New Port Richey, FL – “Ray†LaFerriere, 83, died of pneumonia on 3/11/19 at Heather Hills Nursing Home. He was born on 11/15/35 in Coaticook, Quebec, Canada & the son of Alexandre LaFerriere and Rose (Cameron) LaFerriere. He graduated high school & then moved to the States at 18 years old.
Ray registered with the U.S. Army National Guard (Artillery division) from 1953-1959 & served from 1959 to 1962. Upon an Honorable Discharge, he opened an automotive repairs shop in Manchester, NH. After moving to Tampa, FL he again started another repair shop until he retired.
Ray loved boating, fishing & water skiing & had a superior love of dogs, horses, music & dance. He was often referred to as the dancing king in younger years & a dog/horse whisperer in later years.
Ray is predeceased by his parents, siblings Therese, Reynold, Lucien & Jean LaFerriere. He is survived by siblings: Denise Cameron, Rita Martin, Marthe Woods, Germaine & Andre LaFerriere; his children: Raymond LaFerriere & his wife Anjanette, Michelle Schreckengost, Leo LaFerriere, Mimi MacIntosh, Donald LaFerriere & his wife Dianne (Jacki) LaFerriere, & Annette LaFerriere; grandchildren: Jacqueline LaFerriere Marc & James LaFerriere, Tyler Moran, Bethany, Douglas & Paige MacIntosh, Kayla & Lucas Schreckengost; great granddaughter Nevaeh MacIntosh and many devoted nephews, nieces & cousins.
The family wishes to thank April & Woody Womak & their family for all of the love, patience & support you provided for Ray.
Ray did not believe in funeral services. Any donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, American Cancer Society or local shelter for dogs/horses. His immediate family may have an informal Service at a later date. For now, may he rest in peace with his 2 musketeers.
