In Loving Memory of Reginald L. “Reggie” Spicer

March 1, 1941 – July 27, 2026

Reginald L. “Reggie” Spicer, 85, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a legacy of service, hard work, faith, and adventure.

Born on March 1, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, Reggie was the beloved son of Harry and Mae (Vick) Spicer. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1958 to 1965. His years as a Marine shaped the values he carried throughout his life—honor, dedication, and unwavering commitment. He remained proud of his service as a Life Member of Marine Corps League Detachment #567 and AMVETS Post 98.

In 1960, Reggie married Anita, and together they raised three children: Randel, Lonette, and Matthew. In December 2022, he married Sandra, the love of his later years, whose companionship brought him great happiness. Along with Sandra came her daughters, Leah and Nancy, who became a cherished part of his extended family.

Reggie never shied away from hard work or a new adventure. While working full-time in the heating and air conditioning industry, he also proudly served as a firefighter with the Ontarioville Fire Department. His adventurous spirit eventually took him and his family to Florida, where he worked as a shrimper on the Gulf. He later owned and operated a travel agency before beginning a career as an over-the-road truck driver and eventually becoming a local truck driver. No matter where life led him, Reggie embraced every opportunity with determination, optimism, and enthusiasm.

Above all else, Reggie treasured his family. He found great joy in watching it grow through the generations and loved spending time with those he held dear. One of his greatest joys was seeing his family continue to grow, and he was especially looking forward to welcoming his first great-great-grandchild, expected in September.

Reggie is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra; his children, Randel (Tara), Lonette, and Matthew (Shari); his stepdaughters, Leah (Brandon) and Nancy (Dustin); his grandchildren, Kathryn, Amanda (John), Amy (Michael), Adam (Alyssa), Jordan (Zack), Brian (Autumn), McKenzie, and Dean; his great-grandchildren, Anthony, Ayanna (Cody), Leven, and Ella; his sister-in-law, Mary Ann; several cousins; extended family members; and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mae Spicer; his brother, Thomas Spicer; and his beloved granddaughter, Megan.

Those who knew Reggie will remember him as a man of integrity, resilience, curiosity, and kindness. Whether serving his country, protecting his community, providing for his family, or setting off on another adventure, he lived with purpose and courage. He leaves behind a legacy of love, perseverance, and service that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
