Robert Matthew Hackman, or better known as Matt, born September 3, 1979 in St. Charles Illinois, passed away on September 14, 2025 just days after his 46th birthday.
Matt attended school and was also confirmed at St. John Lutheran church and school in Wheaton Illinois, followed by Wheaton Warrenville South in Wheaton Illinois where he graduated at 15 at the 97th percentile. He then furthered his studies at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb Illinois majoring in Anthropology. He committed most of his career to construction, mainly roofing and then underground utilities known as Jack and bore.
Matt grew up playing soccer and baseball and was raised playing the violin in the Suzuki program. He would accompany his sister Amy, while she played the piano at Christmas and other holidays, or even just for fun. While growing up and throughout their lives, Matt would spend a lot of time with his sister Amy.
Matt loved the mountains and his 2 dogs who he treated like they were his children. He had a passion for reading and listening to e-books. He loved discussing history, current events, space, and sci-fi books like the Dune series, which he liked to discuss with his mother, along with Stephen King which he discussed with his father. He was incredibly intelligent and had a head full of knowledge. Matt was very dedicated to his family and friends, always showing unconditional love, care, and support no matter what. He was there for his family and friends any time they called on him, day or night. He always made sure his family knew he loved them, that he cared about them more than anything, and would always be there to protect them.
Matt is survived by his parents Robert and Denise Hackman, sister Amy Ponce, nieces and nephews Noah, April, and Matthew Hackman, and grandnieces Lindsay and Nichole Hackman.
A celebration of life with a luncheon to follow, will be held on November 1 at 11:00 am at Faith Lutheran Church, 5443 Sunset Rd New Port Richey, FL 34652. Please reach out to Amy Ponce about any donations, cards, condolences, etc. that anyone may want to express to the family in their time of loss and grieving.

Matt and I met around the year 2015. He and I always discussed recent events, news, sports, and work. He was always the same honest, loyal, hardworking, friend which is hard to come by in this day and age. I’ll miss Matt for all the rest of my days and I’ll be soo happy when I see him again in Heaven. Love you buddy! Fly High and Rest Peacefully!
