Wimer, Robert, Sr., 94,passed away June 2, 2018 at his residence in Hudson, FL, while in the presence of his family and hospice and went to be with his Lord and Savior. Robert was born in 1923 in Alliance, OH, the son of Elsie and Albert Wimer. Robert served in the US Army in WWII and later in the Army Air Force. Robert retired from B&W in Alliance, OH as well as the State of Ohio where he worked as a women's compensation arbitrator. Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Jean (Snyder) Wimer; daughter, Cheryl Sines; and grandson, Nathan Wimer. He is survived by children, Donna (Terry) Ferguson, Robert (Sukanya) Wimer, Jr., Brian (Tina) Wimer and Bradley (Michelle) Wimer; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and one more great great grandchild on the way. Robert loved his country. In addition to serving for his country in WWII, he also volunteered as a Boy Scout Leader, YMCA fundraiser, Alliance High School Booster Club Volunteer, Ruritan National Member and volunteered in the New Port Richey, FL Gulfside Hospice for 18 years. Robert enjoyed camping with his family and international travels to include all 50 United States as well as intercontinental travel which included Asia. He returned to the battlefield where he helped with the liberations of those who were held captive because of the war. He also enjoyed playing double and triple deck pinochie which he was still doing 3 times a week with friends. After retirement, he spent many years painstakingly carving birds out of wood and enjoyed vacations in Maggie Valley, NC. He will be missed and loved by many. In lieu of flowers, Robert would prefer memorials in his name be sent to Gulfside Hospice Thrift Shoppe, 6117 SR 54, New Port Richey, FL 34652.

I will miss our frequent chats…Bob will be missed, but we'll carry him in our hearts.
My Nana called him “Big Bear”…and we may have just called him Bob, but he was like a grandfather to me over the past 14 months.
