Salvatrice Maria Fortunato, lovingly known as Maria, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025, at the age of 71.

Born on June 2, 1954, in Sicily, Maria carried with her a deep love for family and togetherness throughout her life. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Alfonso, and a loving mother to her three daughters, Tatiana, Marcella and Gabriella. She was a proud and cherished Nonna to five grandchildren, who brought her endless joy.

Maria was devoted to her family and found her greatest happiness in caring for those she loved. She had a special gift for bringing people together, often through her cooking, which was an expression of her generosity and love. Her home was always a place of warmth, welcome, and comfort.

A memorial service will be held on January 3 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Darien, Illinois.

Maria will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
