June 08, 1943~January 14, 2021

Sarah “SALLY” Massaro (Hatcher), went to be with the lord in the early morning hours of January 14, 2021 with her daughters by her side.

Sally was full of life and loved hard to everyone she met. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, wife, sister, aunt and friend to many. Her laughter was contagious, and her stories made everyone smile. To know Sally was to love Sally.
Sally was born in Berkeley, CA but called Philadelphia her home. She lived in southwest Philly with her family mother (Florence), father (Attilio), sister (Florence) and brother (Joe). Sally graduated from West Catholic High School for girls and followed a religious calling.
After several years Sally followed another calling back to Philadelphia which led her to meet the love of life Tom. As our dad said, “She was sent to him from the convent like the sound of music”. As a young woman Sally fell in love with Tom a recent widow and his three daughters. From there Tom and Sally added four more daughters to complete the Massaro clan. As a dedicated wife and mother, Sally enjoyed many adventures with Tom. They moved several times and embarked on many trips together, her favorite trip was Italy. Mom was the biggest fan to each daughter and never missed something her girls were doing. Not only did you see her, but you could HEAR her from far away. She was our biggest loudest cheerleader! As her family grew this continued for each grandchild. I know many times it was embarrassing but she never cared because she wanted you to know she was cheering for you to do your best.

The words her grandchildren used to describe Nan were: Spirited, Faithful, Strong, Forever, Exuberant, Caring, Supportive, Sassy, Loving, Generous, Thoughtful, Big Heart, Contagious Joy.
With Sally’s former religious background, she offered considerable value to her church community. As an active member of St. Thomas Aquinas her loss will be felt by many. Mom participated in many bible studies groups, was a eucharistic minister, participated in the RCIA program and other various roles when the church needed her.

Sally was preceded in death by her loving husband Tom and daughter Flo. Sally is survived by her 6 daughters, 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday January 19, 2021 at 11AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Newport Richey, FL.
Her daughters will also have a celebration of life in early spring in Philadelphia where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Tom and daughter Flo.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of her daughter to the Flo Massaro future educator scholarship fund: Pasco Education Foundation / Flo Massaro future educator scholarship fund

Family was the most important thing to Sally; she had a larger-than-life personality and will leave unfillable void in the hearts of so many who knew and loved her.

What can I say about your Mother? I have known her since I was 10, and what I met then and what I continued to know throughout her life never changed; she was the nicest, kindest, genuine person I ever met. Beautiful smile and outrageous laugh! There was nothing phony about Sally. She was a faith filled woman among many other glowing attributes. She loved your Dad and you Guys to the “moon and back”! Could you have just seen that reunion between your Dad and her—you know she entered laughing! So sorry for your heartbreak, Love, Joan

Sally was so full of life and we so looked forward to our Friday luncheon get together. It will never be the same without her. I know how much her family meant to her. She will be looking over you from Heaven.

At the CARES Senior Health Clinic we never found a replacement for Sally!
She was the best and it takes 3 people to do the work she did. We loved her spirit and competence!

I am sending love, hugs, and prayers to Sally’s 6 daughters, 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. I feel your loss and understand the void she is leaving in your family and with all her many friends.

Sally was loving, caring, supportive and lots of fun.

God blessed me with a very precious friend that I will greatly miss.

Sally is no longer suffering pain and surely enjoying being with her husband Tom and daughter Flo. Be at peace my special friend

My heart breaks for all of you. Aunt Sal was always so much fun to be around, always had nothing but positive things to say. I am so thankful that I was able to be in her life. She always was in my corner, never judged me, and filled me with words of encouragement. I will miss talking with her and hearing all about the family her and Uncle Tom created. To my cousins…love you and so sorry
