William A Shaylor III, beloved family man passed away peacefully at Mease Life in Dunedin, FL on June 2nd, 2021 with COPD and Congestive Heart Failure after being on hospice care at home for 4 months.

He leaves his loving wife of 65 years, Phyllis G. (Stewart) Shaylor.  He will be profoundly missed by his children:  Debra McKeown McKnight of Tarpon Springs, FL; Gayle Morse of Constableville, NY; Robin Alm and her husband Karl of West Brookfield, MA; William D. Shaylor and his wife Michelle of Dudley, MA and Wendy Johnson and her husband Robert of Spencer, MA.  Along with his sister Diane Prouty and brother-in- law Alan of Myrtle Beach, SC; his brother Roger Shaylor and sister-in-law Pamela of Worcester, MA, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and his faithful dog Jasmin.

Bill was born on March 29th, 1934, in Worcester, the son of the late William A. Shaylor, II and Viola (Kimball) Shaylor Blake.  He attended Auburn High School and joined the United States Marine Corps., proudly serving his country for 3 years in Korea from December 19, 1952, until his honorable discharge on September 30, 1955.

After marrying his wife Phyllis in 1956, they moved to Auburn where he raised his family and worked at Henry Camosse & Sons, Inc., in Worcester, retiring after 35 years.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, swimming, watching his grandchildren’s sport games, riding his motorcycle, fishing with his father-in-law Clarence, enjoying the homemade bread of mother-in-law Bert and traveling with his wife in their motor home across country and Canada.  He also enjoyed country music, playing cards and marbles with family; and shuffleboard and other activities with his friends at Stonehedge On The Hill.  He was an active member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Palm Harbor, FL and recently was recognized and honored for his United States Marine Corps., service and veteran’s status during a pinning ceremony.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking memorial donations be made:  In Memory of  William A. Shaylor, III, Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 1700 Klosterman Road, Palm Harbor, FL 34683.

Dobies Funeral Home in Tarpon Springs, FL is directing arrangements with a burial at Hillside Cemetery in Auburn, MA at a date to be determined by the family.  There are no calling hours.
