William J. Wilbern, beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away amongst his friends at Life Care Center in New Port Richey, FL on Monday, December 8, 2025, at the age of 82.
Bill leaves behind sisters Charlene Stricsek (husband Dave), Eileen Vargo (companion Curtis Kline), his children Curtis Wilbern (wife Jackie), and Heather Kato (husband Todd), grandson Kyle Kato (fiancé Hayley Rice), and granddaughter Morgan Kato. Bill also had many cousins, nieces and nephews he cherished. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Arlene Wilbern and brother Robert Wilbern.
Born in Middletown, PA, Bill co-owned Lewis & Wilbern Auto Sales and later worked as a commercial construction project manager in Somerset, PA before retiring to Holiday, FL. He had many hobbies including tennis, cycling, racquetball, fishing and hunting. He had his private pilot license and was an amateur race car driver. But most importantly, he loved attending his grandson’s baseball games and granddaughter’s field hockey games where he was affectionately known as Pappy Bill.
Bill was eternally grateful to his kidney donor and to the UPMC transplant team in Pittsburgh, PA. In lieu of flowers, please consider becoming an organ donor or simply calling your family and friends to show you care, because that’s what Bill will always be remembered for.
A private burial will be held at Middletown Cemetery on Friday, December 19th for family and friends.
