William “Terry” Lane, of Hudson Florida, passed Sunday, December 22, 2019, at the age of 75 with his family by his side in Port Richey, Florida. He passed away from complications of kidney failure.

Terry Lane was born on January 22, 1944 in Hollywood, California as the second child to Walter and Margaret (Albertson) Lane. His father was a hardware store owner in Ventura, California and his mother was an admin assistant in a doctor’s office.

Terry spent summers on the beach with his grandmother and mother in southern California. He graduated from Buena High School in Ventura County, California in 1962. As a young adult he attended college at University of California Los Angles for a couple of years but shortly thereafter in 1964 he enlisted in the United States Army. He was assigned to the Army Corps of Engineers and was put through Officer’s School. Terry was subsequently allotted to classified projects integral to the defense of American troops and their allies in Vietnam.

Terry served several tours of duty in Vietnam to which he achieved the rank of Captain. It was during his permanent Army base of Ft. Belvoir, Virginia that he met and married Sharron Dupee in 1969. Upon deciding to settle in the northern Virginia area, Terry and Sharron had two children.

In 1977, Terry retired as a decorated Major after severing many years in the United States Army. He became an insurance agent for United Services Life. Within 5 years he had been elevated to financial planner and investment consultant. It was in this profession that Terry made great use of his incredible mathematic skills.

It was in 2005 that Terry and Sharron retired to the great state of Florida in the town of Hudson to begin building their own version of paradise.

He enjoyed football and getting his hands dirty with gardening. He enjoyed his family and watching war documentaries. But best of all he loved having a steak dinner with his family.

Terry is survived by his children and their `spouses, daughter Kimberly Chapman and Travis McKeown; son, Curtis and Jessica Lane; and granddaughter Ashley Lane. In addition to many nephews, a niece and a sister-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharron Marie Lane, 1949-2018. As well as Walter Lane, Margaret J. Lane, and Richard Lane.

Visitation will be on Friday, January, 10th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Dobies Funeral Home, located at 9944 Hudson Ave, Hudson, Florida 34667 and at 1:30 p.m. for final resting at Florida National Cemetery Bushnell at 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, Florida 33510. Reception immediately following at 14164 Faldo Court, Hudson, Florida.
