William Ross Puopolo, age 83, went home to be with the Lord on October 21, 2021 after a courageous battle with multiple health issues over many years. His devotion to his family and firm faith in Jesus Christ supported him in his struggles and ultimately gave him peace. He passed peacefully at the Baldomero Lopez State Veterans Nursing Home surrounded by his family and the loving staff at the nursing home.
Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and friend. He was a veteran of the Air Force, a member of the Sheriff’s Department in Massachusetts, and a board member on the Georgetown Housing Authority. Bill was a barber by trade prior to becoming disabled. He will be missed and remembered fondly by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his mother Alba Puopolo, sister Antionette Puopolo, and brother Carmine Puopolo. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Elenor M. Puopolo, daughter Bernie and husband Rick of Redington Shores, Florida, son Michael and wife Mina of Berwick, Maine, and son William and wife Stephanie of New Port Richey, Florida. Bill had 8 grandchildren, Ricky, Toni, Christina, Kimberly, Clara, Meridene, Lucy, and Adeline, as well as 2 great-grandchildren Marcus and Riley.
A memorial Mass will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, New Port Richey, Florida at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 27th, 2021, followed by burial at the Bushnell National Veterans Cemetery.
The family wishes to express their gratitude, appreciation, and love to the staff of the Baldomero Lopez State Veterans Nursing Home for the care he was given. They were his second family, especially during the difficult past year and a half.
